Diane White, MA, SCM, PMP
Diane White has over 20 years of project and program management experience in information technology and telecommunications at Verizon Communications. She is currently a program manager with responsibility for oversight and governance for strategic programs.
Ms. White has been an active PMI volunteer since 2000 where she started on the board of the PMI Tampa Bay chapter in Tampa, Florida, USA, serving two years as chapter president in 2007 and 2008. As president, Ms. White led the chapter in the pilot program of the performance management framework strategic planning effort and was a general session panelist on strategic planning at the 2008 PMI Leadership Institute Meeting in Denver, Colorado, USA.
In 2009, Ms. White was honored to be on the North America Congress Project Action Team for the PMI Global Congress. In addition, she was a speaker at the 2009 Congress and participated on the virtual planning team for the PMI Information Systems Specific Interest Group's annual business meeting.
Recently, Ms. White was selected to participate in the PMI 2011 Leadership Institute Master Class which held its first session in Panama City, Panama this year.
The 20th century brought organizational management of routine operations to a high level. But executing change in an increasingly fast-paced and competitive world remained a challenge – one that project management has evolved to meet. This presentation emphasizes that project management is a profession distinct from “management in general,” and gives examples of organizations that are aligning their projects and programs with strategic goals.
